Shiley tracheostomy Cannulae

For over twenty-five years, we have been making tracheostomy cannulae for all medical needs. Thanks to patient-oriented engineering, superior manufacturing processes and a global after-sales service, Shiley tracheostomy cannulae have earned the trust and respect of health care Clinicians worldwide. Highest manufacturing standards are applied and every tracheostomy cannula is inspected for maximum quality assurance. The result is a technically perfect and reliable product suitable for virtually every type of use.

Thanks to the excellent design of the tube and inner cannula as well as the soft swivel flange, both patients and staff benefit from greater safety and utmost comfort.  If anatomical conditions make standard cannulae unusable, we are able to supply products made to specific patient requirements (click here for brochure with details). Mallinckrodt Tracheal Tubes

Covidien (formerly Tyco Healthcare) has an extensive range of Tracheal Tubes to choose from

  • Anaesthesia Tracheal Tubes:- Ideal for short to medium term anaesthesia or ventilation (click here to view brochure)
  • Speciality Anaesthesia Tracheal Tubes:- Safe Solutions to the problems of speciality anaesthetic and surgical procedures (click here to view brochure)
  • Intensive Care Tracheal Tubes:- Advanced technology and high quality finish help to ensure maximum protection and comfort for the patient during long term ventilation (click here to view brochure)
  • Neonatal / Paediatric Tracheal Tubes:- Tracheal Tubes for neonates and paediatrics (click here to view brochure)

Common Features

  • Clear tube material
Allows visualisation of condensed exhaled air indicating tracheal intubation.
  • Thermosensitive material
Clear thermosensitive material softens at body temperature to follow the natural airway profile and minimises the possibility of damage to the delicate tracheal mucosa.
  • Thin walled tube
Ensures the largest internal diameter in comparison to the external diameter. This allows a wider choice of tube size without compromising the airflow resistance.
  • Atraumatic tip
Reduces the risk of tracheal wall damage during intubation.
  • Pilot balloon with self-sealing valve
Inflation line with self-sealing valve and pilot balloon on all cuffed tubes.
  • Magill shaped body
Magill body curvature through to the distal tip conforming to relevant ISO & EN criteria.
  • Radiopaque line
Tip-To-Tip™ radiopaque line allows location and verification of the tube position by x-ray.
  • 15 mm connector
Standard connector for secure connection to the breathing system and an internal tapered shoulder facilitates easy passage of suction catheters. The tracheal tube size is marked on the connector.
  • Sterile packed - for single use only
    Reduces the risk of cross-infection.
  • Latex free*
All Mallinckrodt tracheal tubes, described in this catalogue, are made of Latex free material.
  • CE Approved
All Mallinckrodt tracheal tubes are CE approved in accordance with Council Directive 93/94/EEC of 14th June,1993.
  • Tracheal tube length
The nominal length (± 10mm) specified for the tracheal tubes includes the 15mm connector.

Note:- * Except for products with the Lanz™ System.

TLT - Translaryngeal Tracheostomy

The method of choice for long term ventilated patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

Features and Benefits

  • Controlled dilation from inside the trachea and the use of finger counter pressure reduce trauma and bleeding.
  • Use of endoscopic techniques allows constant monitoring of correct procedure
  • Small bore ventilation tube ensures that ventilation is maintained during all stages of the procedure.
  • Unique dilating tracheostomy tube creates an optimim-fit stoma, minimising the risk of infection.

DAR - A Breakthrough in Percutaneous Tracheostomy

Tycare*- Ty-Care* exel, Closed Suction System for Adult

Patients

Repeated endotracheal suctioning performed with conventional disposable catheters involves disconnection of the patient from the ventilator a procedure which is not without complications and risks.

Especially in patients depending on high PEEP levels or suffering from haemodynamic instability, interruption of ventilation can lead to:

  • arterial and mixed venous oxygen desaturation
  • loss of lung volume
  • alveolar derecruitment in hypoxemic patients
  • increase in mean arterial pressure and heart rate

Ty-Care* and Ty-Care*exel are designed to remain part of the breathing system during suctioning without disconnecting ventilatory support and thus maintaining respiratory parameters.Open suctioning exposes both the patient and the hospital staff to the risk of crosscontamination.

Ty-Care* and Ty-Care*exel closed suction systems protect patient ’s airway from environmental pathogens and prevents hospital staff to be exposed to aerosolized germs expelled by the patient as during open suctioning.

Thanks to its sleeved suction catheter Ty-Care and Ty-Care exel limit environmental, hospital staff and patient contamination. This is particularly important by infective and immunodepressed patients. Ty-Care* and Ty-Care*exel are cost-effective and easy to use allowing one-user suctioning procedures and reducing daily consumption of single use material.

HI-LO™ EVAC Tracheal and Tracheostomy Tubes with Aspiration System

The Hi-lo™ EVAC tracheal and tracheostomy tubes have an additional lumen, integrated into the wall of the tubes which ends in a dorsal opening proximal to the cuff. This is indicated for evacuation or drainage of secretions that may have accumulated in the subglottic space during long term intubation. The Aspiration System once attached to the lumen allows for continuous aspiration or intermittent suctioning of these secretions.

IMPORTANT: Use of the EVAC does not reduce / eliminate the requirements for other suctioning usually performed such as tracheal / bronchial, oral cavity etc.

An effective treatment in the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia.
